2nd Pasadena Appointment

I had my second doctor appointment in Pasadena today. They did bloodwork and a uterine lining check. My lining was at a 13 (good) and in a triple line pattern (good). So they cleared me to stop the Lupron injections, continue the Estradiol and begin the Progesterone injections. Kelley, Debbie, the kids and I went to the beach afterwards. While we were there, "E" called and said her Friday doctor appointment didn't go so well. "E" had a hysterectomy and even before that, she was never able to produce large amount of eggs even with medication. She is currently on medication to be producing as many healthy eggs as possible, even if it's only a few, for the retrieval. When she went in for her ultrasound Friday, the doctor couldn't find any eggs. Her Estradiol levels were a low 30 which would indicate a low number of eggs. She needed to be at about 120. So the doctor upped her dosage and by Saturday it was up to 90. The doctor told her something was happening but they weren't sure what. So they upped her dosages even more and scheduled her to be seen again Tuesday (tomorrow). She was supposed to be doing the egg retrieval this week and the embryo transfer was going to be this weekend but now we are not sure. It will all depend on what her results are tomorrow. If she is making an egg (stop laughing) then we will just wait an extra week for it to mature (not hatch). If she is not making an egg, then we might have to thaw out her 2 saved embryos and use them for the transfer. Everyone is hesitant to do that because if we use those and the pregnancy fails, then they have no other embryos. If she can't produce eggs, then that is the last chance they have of having their own baby. So everyone involved is wanting to try and get "E"'s body to produce some new eggs and save the frozen embryos for a last resort. So for now I am on a holding pattern, back on Lupron and not the Progesterone. I felt bad sharing my good doctor report with "E" after her unsuccessful one but she was happy to hear my body was responding good to the medicines. We will know more tomorrow.
